マルチエージェントシステム
我々の周りには、複雑な、しかし秩序だった様々な存在物にみちあふれている。自然物の複雑な全体をどのように理解すればいいか、それが近代科学の問いかけであったが、現在では、人間が操作対象とする人工物でさえ単純な挙動を示さないことも多くなり、設計や制御が容易でなくなってきている。さらに、経済主体の意思決定など、人間を含む社会システ ムであればなおさらである。個々の局所的行為は決定論的なのに全体の振る舞いは創発的である。このような複雑なシステムを取り扱う枠組みをマルチエージェントシステムと呼ぶ。比較的新しい学問分野であり、近年ではさらに大きな広がりを見せているが、一方でまだ十分に体系化されている訳ではなく、講義では基礎的事項について理解を進めるとともに、いくつかの研究トピックスの知見をうる。
You are currently living with a lots of complex but well-organized entities. The concern of modern science is to understand the whole of a complex system comprising natural things, but nowadays even artifacts, which are originally made by human beings and should be controllable, present complex behavior and therefore it now becomes hard to control or design them. Furthermore, if the system includes humans like economic agents, it would be even more difficult. Therein, each individual behavior is simple and deterministic but their behavior as a whole has the nature of emergence. In a broader sense, this framework treating such kinds of complex systems is called “Multi-agent systems”. This field is relatively new and has been recently developed. However, it is still far from a systematized discipline now. In this class, the fundamental ideas and related basic theories are given. In addition, actual recent research topics are also presented.

授業の方法
複雑系やマルチエージェントシステムに関する学問は比較的新しく、まだ体系化と呼べる状態には至っていないが、必要とされる概念や関連する理論、考えるべき事項などの共通認識は確立されつつある。マルチエージェントシステムは、複雑な人工システムの制御だけでなく、人工システムの適応的発展の手がかりを与えるものとして期待されている。発展途上であるため、講義では基礎的事項の理解を深めるとともに、具体的な研究トピックスについても講述する。また、講義内容を一部変更する場合がある。
The academic field treating multi-agent systems or complex systems is relatively new and still is not considered as a systematized discipline. But required concepts, related theories, and relative methodologies have been developed and start to be regarded as common recognitions. Multi-agent systems expect to become a cue for controlling and/or designing complex artificial systems and moreover might become a key for adaptive development of artifacts cooperating with a surrounding environment. Multi-agent systems are still a developing topic, so that the main purpose of the class is to lecture a very fundamental elements. Additionally some recent research topics are also introduced. Note that there is a possibility that some parts of the contents above might be unexpectedly changed.
