本授業の目標は、環境正義と気候正義に関して、資源の平等論とケパビリティ論の視点から理解することである。授業は最初の二回は講義形式、残りはセミナー方式と個人研究発表会の形で進められ、セミナーでは事前に配布された資料を基に討論を行う。

医療市場に関する最近の実証論文を取り上げ議論する。需要の推定、情報とその非対称性、参入・退出、価格設定、規制、研究開発、等に関する論文をカバーする。受講者は事前に十分論文を読み、授業中のディスカッションに参加できるよう準備すること。また、レフェリー・レポートも課す予定である。他の産業にも共通するトピックスを多く含むので、医療分野を研究対象としない学生も興味がもてると考える。 This course examines and discusses recent empirical papers on the healthcare market. It covers papers on demand estimation, information and its asymmetry, entry and exit, pricing, regulation, research and development, and related topics. Students are expected to thoroughly read the assigned papers beforehand and prepare to participate in class discussions. A referee report will also be required. As the course includes many topics common to other industries, it should be of interest even to students whose research focus is not the healthcare sector.

広く産学官にわたってグローバルに活躍するために必要な「俯瞰力」を養成することを目指す。物質科学の各分野について最先端の知識を修得し、自分の専門分野と周辺分野がどのように関連するか、あるいはし得るか、について深く考察するために、第一線で活躍する講師の方々にその分野の最前線を概観していただく。さらに、それらの講義を通して異分野間のコミュニケーションを円滑に進めるための具体的方法論を学ぶ。 This survey course is designed to enable students to develop the broad perspective that is required of global leaders working in and across industry, academia, and government. Students will gain knowledge and insight on advancements in each field of materials science research, given by leading researchers working on the frontline in those fields. This will allow students to consider how peripheral fields are related to their own area of expertise, and to consider the potential for forging bridges between related fields in the future. In addition, students will learn specific methodologies designed to facilitate smooth communication among different disciplines.

本来、データ市場は組織を横断してデータの利活用方法を議論し、協創的コミュニケーションによって異分野データ連携とイノベーションを実現する場であると期待される。これは、株式市場が株主と企業のコミュニケーションによって産業の価値を高めるという期待と同様である。 しかし、現実の市場はデータの利用価値と乖離したマネタイズにより、この期待に応えることができない。一組織のデータだけでなく、異なる領域のデータや技術の流通・交換・連携によって問題解決を行うという、データ社会の本来の価値を生み出すためには何をすればよいだろうか？ このクラスは「脱・データ市場」すなわち、学術・ビジネスにおいても、意思決定プロセスの幹線として必須の情報利活用環境としての社会を、学生の自発的思考から生み出す参加型のワークプレースとする。 Data markets are ideally expected to serve as venues where organizations discuss ways to utilize data across organizational boundaries, and where collaborative communication enables cross-disciplinary data integration and innovation. This is analogous to the expectation that stock markets enhance industrial value through communication between shareholders and companies. However, in reality, these markets fail to meet these expectations due to monetization practices that are disconnected from the actual value of the data. What steps should be taken to generate the inherent value of a data society—one that solves problems not only through a single organization’s data but also through the circulation, exchange, and integration of data and technologies across different domains? This class aims to create a participatory workplace where students, through their own independent thinking, foster a society that serves as an essential environment for information utilization—a backbone of decision-making processes in both academia and business—as part of the “ move beyond the data market.”

Growing concern for the protection of the environment and for the development of more sustainable ecological systems have led policymakers and scholars to consider ways in which gender, class, and race mediate human environment interactions. The multi-disciplinary course examines conceptual issues related to ecological systems, environmental policy, gender studies, and justice and equity concerns. It critically examines the complex intersections of environmental actors, agencies, and institutions in the global arena through a focus on contested gender power relations.

工学の一つの側面は、何かを作ることによって人の生活、社会の営みを豊かにする方法を生み出してゆくための科学的方法を構成してゆく学問である。例えば、エジソンが白熱電球を改良した時代には、他にも白熱電球を改良することに心血を注ぐ技術者はいた。しかし、その中でのエジソンの独自性の一つとして着目されるのは、電球だけではなく様々な電気製品と、そしてこれらの基盤となる電力の供給システムを構築したことであった。即ち、様々な製品とともに、これらの繋がりを構成し、その繋がりによって発揮される機能、その機能が社会と人々の要求 – 潜在的な要求も含めて – を満たす効果を予測した点は、エジソンの卓越した独自性の一つであった。 このように、①新たな要素技術の創造、②要素技術間の結合による要求の実現、という二つの営みを包含する一般的な視点を持ち、そのための基盤的役割を果たす学理について説明するのが「知識と知能」というテーマである。どのような工学分野とも、社会設計あるいは組織経営の手法とも結合することができ、それによって多様な人々からの要求を満たす有益なコンテンツを含んでいる。従って、広く各学部の学生に参照して欲しい。
