言語の変異・変化I
1500年以上に及ぶ英語の歴史を、現代から後期近代英語期（1700-1945）→初期近代英語期（1500-1700）→中英語期（1150-1500）→古英語期（600-1150）と順に遡ります。各時代における英語の発音・形態・文法・語彙に関する諸特徴や、英語がなぜ・どのように変化してきたかを学ぶことで、現代英語への理解を深めることを目標とします。
We will trace the history of English language that spans more than 1,500 years, starting from the present day to the Late Modern English period (1700-1945), Early Modern English period (1500-1700), Middle English period (1150-1500) and Old English period (600-1150), i.e. reverse chronological order. By studying features of sounds, morphology, syntax and lexicon of the language in each period and how and why English has changed, we will aim to deepen our understanding of Present-day English.

アメリカ政治は現在、大きな変動の時期を迎えている。トランプ２次政権を誕生させた白人労働者のポピュリズム、また適正な法の執行や報道の自由を阻害する権威主義的傾向が強まっていることなどがジャーナリズムで指摘されているが、アメリカ合衆国の政党研究の文脈でこの変動はどのように分析されているだろうか。
本授業では、大統領権限の強化が政党と統治機構に対してもたらす矛盾、民主党と単一争点利益団体の関係性、共和党のビジネス保守派が複数の州で展開してきた活動、という政党研究の３つの観点から、それぞれ近年刊行された研究書を講読する。またアメリカ政治発展論という研究領域で生み出されてきた一連の研究課題についても、学期の冒頭でレビューを行う。

19世紀ドイツ憲法学の集大成者であり、戦前の日本憲法学の「種本」であった以上に、いわゆるハイデルベルク精神の輝ける担い手の一人であったゲオルク・イェリネックの遺稿集Ausgewählte Schriften und Reden, Bd. 1-2, 1911.から、参加者が任意の論文を選んで精読し、それぞれの仕方で新しい学問が誕生する現場を追体験する。
