This course explores the impacts that human activities have had on aquatic ecosystems, emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts and the role of scientific advice when multiple societal stakeholders are involved.
Course Content:
Students will first attend lectures on radioactive contamination in Fukushima and its effects on coastal ecosystems, as well as scientific communication.
Following the lectures, students will be divided into small groups (approximately 4-5 members) for discussions.
Each group will analyze potential solutions from the perspectives of various stakeholders, engage in group discussions, and organize their findings for presentation (Day 2).
On the third session, each group will present their solutions, followed by discussions to deepen their understanding of the challenges and strategies involved in aquatic ecosystem conservation.
