障害者の就労体験学習—バリアフリー社会の可能性

　今日では、多様な特性や背景を持つ人々が互いに尊重しあい、十全に能力を発揮できる状態（ダイバーシティ・インクルージョン）の価値は広く知られるようになった。一方で、歴史的に労働市場から阻害されてきた障害者については、いまだ包摂（インクルージョン）は道半ばであると言わざるをえない。その背景には、「障害」という概念自体が「働けない身体」をカテゴリー化するためのラベルとして「発明」されたという社会構造的問題があるが、そうであるからこそ、「労働市場における障害者の包摂」という課題は、理論的にも実践的にもクリティカルな課題である。　この授業は、座学と体験実習によって構成され、障害者の就労現場における体験学習とその振り返りを通して、社会のバリアフリー化に向けた実践的・具体的な可能性を探究することを目的とする。なお、本講座は富士電気株式会社、及び株式会社富士電気フロンティアのご協力（寄付を含む）を得て運営されている。

　多様な差異を持つ人々が包摂される社会を実現することは、現代の重要な社会的課題となっている。また近年では、多様性=ダイバーシティ（性別、年齢、言語、身体特性等）の尊重のみならず、包摂性=インクルージョン（所属感覚、差異の尊重、民主的な意思決定等）の向上が重要であることが注目されるようになった。ただし、多様性の向上は必ずしも包摂性の向上を伴うとは限らず、また、多様な属性の差異によって包摂性の度合いにギャップが生じていることも指摘されている。こうした乖離を埋めるための実践として、ジェンダーやエスニシティに関わる意識的・無意識的な偏見の解消、障害のある人の参加機会を保障する「合理的配慮」や「バリアフリー」等、学校、企業、行政機関等様々な現場で、様々な取り組みが施行/試行されている。この授業では、集団や組織の「インクルーシブネス」を可視化する方法や「インクルーシビティ」を高める実践手法等を紹介し、その実施過程に潜む課題や問題点について議論する。

The objective of this course is to make students appreciate the value of thinking about philosophical questions. In contrast to most standard introductions to this subject, my course will put the questions to the fore, rather than certain views as to how to ‘answer’ such questions. Like my other GLA course “Reading Philosophy”, this course is open to students who have no background in philosophy. While readings will focus on philosophy in a tradition that is sometimes called “Western philosophy”, the historical scope of this course will be wide, ranging from literature from ancient Greece to contemporary philosophy. Classes will be given in the form of a reading seminar, where students can acquire an understanding of philosophy more actively through engagement with primary texts. If you are happy to read texts closely and to think about what is going on in them, this is a course for you.

The first objective of the course if for students to acquire conceptual, theoretical, and empirical knowledge of autocratization in current global politics. The concept of autocratization will be discussed and contrasted to that of democratization. Students will learn and discuss how autocratization is measured by leading independent assessing institutions (e.g. V-Dem, EUI, Freedom House). The second objective of the course is for students to acquire conceptual, theoretical, and empirical knowledge of the meanings, causes, and effects of populism as well as its historical and current character in various contexts. Thereby, students will be able to understand the role of populism, if any, in countries undergoing a reversal in the quality of democracy. The students will also develop the ability to assess different academic perspectives on populism and to independently and critically analyze populist rhetoric, as well as the social, economic and political conditions that promotes the growth of populism. The course includes and analyzes prominent recent examples of populist leaders and regimes, including tools they have used to come to power and keep it.

This is a course on visual culture in the 20th and 21st century, with a particular focus on the interplay between media technology, culture and society. This course will also be multidisciplinary in nature, as we reflect on our discursive assumptions in the historical, sociological, anthropological, philosophical disciplines among others. While the readings may primarily cover phenomenon in the United States, participants will be strongly encouraged to think of the specificity of the impact of globalization on media and society in various regions of the world including Japan. The course objectives are the following: -Gain a better understanding of the relationships between society, media, people, institutions and how they function as agents of maintaining the status quo or for fostering change -Learn about the transformative faculties and social implications of quotidian applications of technology -Gain deeper understanding of the academic disciplines Topics will include (but are not limited to): -representation of human-computer interaction in culture -regional, transnational and international ecosystems of information technology -artificial intelligence and algorithmic bias -representation of race, ethnicity and gender and other minorities -technological advancement and implementation in everyday life and the powers at play
