In this course, we will first discuss the relationship between archives and documents, after which, we will attempt to understand the use of various media connected to school libraries. Next, I will introduce the methods of instructional support through school libraries for inquiry-based learning, which is emphasized in the curriculum guidelines. By taking this course, students will be able to (1) explain the significance of using school libraries in an environment where every student owns a device and (2) imagine the combination of school education and the use of school libraries. To answer this question, we will embrace discussion of large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, and investigate the ways in which they may help or harm our growth as learners and educators. Additionally, we will explore the risks and limitations of LLMs in contexts such as education, journalism, social media, and research. Through active engagement in this course, students will learn to: *Use writing as a form of thinking to investigate, unravel, and refine complicated concepts *Assess the effects that automated tools (e.g. ChatGPT) can have on learning and communication *Decide when LLMs will more likely aid or hinder these endeavors through writing with and without their usage *Engage critically and confidently with these new tools and the content generated with their use Successfully acquiring these skills will help students prepare to dive deeper into academically and societally relevant discussions on the use of language models, and grant them the ability to formulate and deliver even complicated conclusions clearly.

This course aims to raise awareness on the critical role of space technology in our daily lives and the important implications it has on domestic policymaking and international relations. The first part of the course, titled “Space and Society”, provides an overview of major space technologies and their applications. It then demonstrates how space assets have become a critical infrastructure on which advanced societies are over-reliant, and the hazards and threats that they are facing. The second part of course delves into political science and international relations. It addresses the various approaches to space policymaking, the structure of international relations in outer space and the major challenges ahead for the space sector. This course will be a part of the global effort to map threats and consequences for space sustainability conducted by the United Nations Institute of Disarmament Research.

In this course, students learn about STS (Science, Technology and Society) through case studies. What is this called science? How can we manage the conflicts between S&T and Society? Who are the experts? These questions appear in various issues around us, such as the pandemic of COVID-19, environmental problems, disasters, and governance of emerging technologies. In this course, we learn about, and discuss cases from STS perspectives. Students are required to do their own case analysis in their final report.
