プラズマ粒子計測の手法とその応用 Methods and Applications of Space Plasma Measurements

人工衛星・観測ロケット搭載用の様々なプラズマ粒子計測装置の原理について解説した後、地球・水星・木星など磁場を持つ惑星の磁気圏や月など磁場を持たない天体の周辺空間の構造・ダイナミクス・太陽風との相互作用について、実際の観測例を元に解説し未解決の現象について議論する。 Interaction between the solar wind and a solar system object varies largely according to the object's properties, such as the existence of a global intrinsic magnetic field and/or thick atmosphere. Recent knowledge on the structure/dynamics of the magnetized planets’ magnetosphere and plasma environment around non-magnetized bodies based on the plasma data obtained by spacecraft and /or sounding rockets as well as the instrumentation for plasma measurements are the main topics of this lecture.

Governance is an important topic for the global space activities. This course will offer the lectures by practitioners and specialists to learn the latest trend of space development and utilization, followed by policy proposal training on the specific law and policy challenges.

Space related treaties which are legal basis of the global space activities are subject to governmental activities and presume that governments supervise non-governmental activities. Under the governmental supervision, conventional space companies have supported governmental space activities to contribute to national interests. However, New Space companies that emerged in 2000s are proceeding space activities with their own visions and business models although under governmental supervision, then activating global space activities. On the other hand, according to the increase of space debris, there are concerns about sustainability of global space activities, and governments are still responsible for sustainable space development and utilization, infrastructures, and industrial bases. In Japan, 2008 Space Basic Law enabled space activities for national security, renewed its governance structure by establishing Strategic Headquarters for Space Policy headed by Prime Minister, and shifted its weight to utilization from research and development. 2016 Space Activities Law set out legal basis for space activities including by private companies. However, there are still various legal and policy challenges including industrial promotion and space debris issue from the viewpoint of sustainable space activities. This course will offer practical lectures by various practitioners and specialists to understand current situation of space development and utilization. Afterwards, students will develop and discuss policy proposals for specific themes as practices. FY 2019, we will deal with the latest topics including space traffic management (STM), roles of national space agencies, and space resource exploration under the theme of Governance of Space Activities.

地球表層での(主に水を介した)元素の挙動を支配する物理化学的な要因を理解し、それを基に主に水圏で起きる化学反応を理解する。またこれらにより記述できる天然系でみられる現象を学ぶ。 To learn chemical thermodynamics needed to describe behaviors of elements at earth surface and various chemical reactions controlling the behaviors. Natural phenomena that can be explained by the thermodynamics will be introduced.

地球磁気圏で起こる代表的な擾乱である磁気嵐とサブストームについて、太陽―地球結合の観点から最新の科学的知見を交えながら解説する。 Magnetic storms and substorms are known as the largest classes of the disturbances taking place in Earth’s magnetosphere. The cause and consequence of the disturbances are covered in terms of Sun-Earth connection on the basis of recently obtained results.

地球内部の動的現象(プレート運動,地震・火山活動,地殻変動,マントル対流,コア対流など)の実相と,それにかかわる物理的・化学的な理論・素過程を学ぶ.本講義を通して,地球のダイナミックな営みのメカニズムや時空間スケールを定量的に考察し,個々の地学現象をより正確に理解することを目指す.それにより,惑星「地球」の現在進行中の現象のみならず,歴史と未来を俯瞰することができるようになる. We learn dynamic processes of the Earth's interior (including plate motion, earthquake/volcanism, crustal deformation, mantle convection, core convection) and the physical-chemical theory and elemental processes behind them. Through quantitatively analyzing the mechanisms and processes in time and space, we aim to understand the individual geologic phenomena accurately, based on which on-going processes on the planet Earth, as well as their history and future, will be overviewed.

地球史を通じて、表層環境の形成・進化および物質循環に影響を与え続ける肉眼で観察できない生命に焦点を当てる。分子系統学、代謝様式、有機地球化学および生息環境の多様性について学び、地球環境および物質循環との係わりについて数値解析を用いた手法も含めて学習する。 また後半は、 地球を特徴づける生命とはいかなる存在か、DNA、進化、「かたち」をキーワードに考える。古代ゲノム学、進化発生学、そしてそれらの基礎となる分子系統学の方法論と重要な概念・成果について学ぶ。 Throughout the Earth's history, microbial life has tremendously influenced the evolution of the surface environment and elemental cycles. The diversity with respect to molecular phylogeney, physiology and habitability of microorganisms and the tight coupling of microbial activity and Earth's geochemical processes will be lectured in this course. The principle and application of organic geochemistry are also lectured. The objective of the latter half is to reconsider what is life, which characterizes the planet Earth. The key words are DNA, evolution, and 'forms'. Mention will be given to principles of and some important findings in chemical evolution, paleo-genomics, evolutionary developmental biology, morphology and molecular phylogenetics.
