Global seminar on urban engineering 1（都市工学グローバル輪講第一）
The purpose of this seminar is to give students a general outline of key concepts in sustainable urban planning and design with a focus on practice, while giving students the opportunity to enhance their English skills in the context of their own field of study.

授業計画
Each session will consist of short lectures in English (30 mins) on selected topics followed by group discussion among students of a discussion problem provided by the lecturer (60 mins).
Core topics:
1.Sustainability and the built environment (Density and land use, transit-supportive densities)
2.Sustainable neighborhoods (Complete neighborhoods, car-free housing, neighborhood retail, third places, walkability)
3. Green Infrastructure
4.Case studies in sustainable urban planning and design
成績評価方法
1.Weekly short video presentations based on the in-class discussion (60%)
2.Final group presentation of case-studies (40%)
