(Heat Transfer)

The objective of this course is to present the fundamental principles of heat transfer by relating those principles to practical engineering applications. The course will start from the introduction to heat transfer by conduction, radiation and convection, and cover the topics on steady-state analysis of heat transfer, unsteady-state heat transfer, numerical solution of heat conduction problems, practical problems for forced-convection heat transfer, and natural convection systems. Students will learn the ability to solve heat-transfer problems often appeared in the area of environment and energy engineering.
Note: Course textbook is "Heat Transfer (9th ed., J.P. Holman, 2001)" written in English.

Fundamental knowledge on fluid mechanics AND thermodynamics is necessary for understanding heat convection in flow streams. Students should be familiar with MS Excel because it will be often used for analytical and numerical calculations. MATLAB can be used for these calculations.
