Course materials will be provided in each class. In addition to lectures, exercises and group discussions will be conducted according to the topic of each class. Rather than focusing on understanding and solving individual phenomena mathematically, this course emphasizes understanding the relationship between materials and environmental issues, framing problems from a broader and structural perspective, and developing possible solutions. Through exercises and discussions, students will develop solution-oriented thinking by examining problems from multiple perspectives and exploring possible approaches to solving them.

As exercises and group discussions are conducted in each class, students are expected to participate actively and contribute to the discussions. As preparation, students are encouraged to pay attention to current societal issues and news related to the environment, resources, and materials, and to attend each class with their own awareness of relevant problems. For review, students should reflect on the topics covered in class and consider how the perspectives and approaches learned can be applied to actual environmental problems and material use. In particular, students are encouraged to reflect on the exercises and discussions and consolidate their approaches to framing problems and developing solutions.
