国際連携演習III

Japan is a leading country in robotic-manipulator technology. In the (near) future, robots are expected to become an integral part of our society. To become leaders in this robotized societal structure, the students at our University must be made aware of the basics in design, fabrication, and control of robots.

Among the many types of robots available, teleoperated robots are commonly used in the handling of hazardous materials and in the surgical field. Teleoperated robots can provide super-human performance to the operator while keeping the operators in a safe environment.

Furthermore, the ongoing pandemic hinders face-to-face learning, and there is a need for a completely online-based project-based learning course.

Trough international cooperation, this lecture will nurture the students’ skills in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and programming.

授業計画
・A kit containing the necessary parts for a 5 degrees-of-freedom (DoF) robot will be distributed to the students. The students will, initially, assemble the robot while learning the meaning of each component. Robot control classes are also expected. ・ After preparing the 5-DoF robot, the students will be grouped in such a way to maximize international cooperation. Each group is expected to design, fabricate, and interface a gripper and a master interface to the 5-DoF robot. ・ All groups are expected tol participate in a intra-class challenge in which the 5-DoF robot, gripper, and master interface must be used. ・ The course will be taught online. ・ The course will be taught in English.
授業の方法
集中講義だが、授業を火3に行います。 Lectures held on Tuesday's 3rd period.
成績評価方法
The grade will be assigned as a weighed average of the following: - Attendance, participation (Being active at the class) - Reports (Design idea, status, issues) - Final presentation (Design presentation before the intra-class competition) The placement on the challenge does not affect the grade.
