変容的学習：言語学習と、その先にある自律性を育む / Transformational Learning: Developing Autonomy in Language and Beyond
本L-GLA科目は、外国語の高度な運用能力を育成することを目的としています。英語を第一言語としない学生のみ履修登録できます。
本科目は、加藤佐都子氏と吉永美奈子氏による『学習意識改革ノート』を基に、学習者の自律性、エージェンシー（主体性）、ポジティブ心理学の研究に基づき、学生が自らの学びの旅路の主導権を握れるよう支援します。ショートレクチャーは英語で行いますが、教材は日英バイリンガルです。ディスカッションは日本語と英語で行います。
本科目では、質の高い教育とは、単なる知識の伝達に留まらず、生涯にわたって効果的に学び続けるためのメタ学習スキル（＝学び方を学ぶスキル）を育成することだと捉えます。理論的枠組みは、学習者の自律性（自らの学習を管理する能力）、学習者エージェンシー（主体的に行動し、選択する能力）、そしてポジティブ心理学の諸原則（強み、ウェルビーイング、最適機能に着目）を組み合わせたものです。言語学習を主なレンズとして用いながら、あらゆる学習領域に応用可能な戦略を身につけます。
本ゼミは、学生が新しいアプローチを試み、自分に合った学習システムを構築できる、支援的なコミュニティを提供します。大学でのキャリアの早い段階でこれらの能力を育むことで、学生は上級課程の科目（グローバル教養（GLA）科目など）や、大学卒業後の生涯学習に向けて、より良い準備を整えることができます。
This L-GLA course aims to develop advanced proficiency in another language. Only students whose first language is not English are eligible to apply.
Based on 『学習意識改革ノート』(Transformational Learning Notebook) by Kato Satoko and Yoshinaga Mioko, the course draws on research in learner autonomy, agency, and positive psychology to help students take ownership of their learning journey. Short lectures will be in English, however course materials will be bilingual (Japanese/English). Discussions will be in English and Japanese.
The course recognizes that quality education extends beyond knowledge transmission to developing meta-learning skills―learning how to learn effectively throughout life. The theoretical framework combines learner autonomy (the ability to take charge of one's own learning), learner agency (the capacity to act and make choices), and positive psychology principles (focusing on strengths, well-being, and optimal functioning). While using language learning as our primary lens, students will develop transferable strategies for any learning domain.
This seminar offers a supportive community where students can experiment with new approaches and develop personalized learning systems. By fostering these capabilities early in their university careers, students will be better prepared for senior division courses, including Global Liberal Arts (GLA) courses, and for lifelong learning beyond university.

"Tentative schedule. The 13-week seminar systematically builds autonomous learning capabilities by engaging with the 8 Principles (8つの法則) from 『学習意識改革ノート』.
Phase 1: Foundation Building (Weeks 1-3)
Week 1: Course Introduction: What is Transformational Learning? Introduction to the ""8 Principles"" and the concept of learner autonomy.
Week 2: Understanding Your Past (Principle 1): Interactive workshop on Work 1: ""Looking Back on Your Language Learning History"" (Motivation Graph).
Week 3: Understanding Your Strengths (Principle 1): Workshop on Work 2: ""Summoning your Best & Strongest Self"" and introduction to reflective journaling.
Phase 2: Strategic Planning (Weeks 4-6)
Week 4: Envisioning Your Future (Principle 2): Workshop on Work 6: ""Vision Board"" to set long-term goals.
Week 5: Goal Setting & Action Plans (Principle 4): Introduction to the ""Goal-Setting Pyramid"" and creating personalized action plans.
Week 6: Motivation & Well-being Strategies (Principles 5 & 7): Exploring Positive Psychology interventions, such as Work 21: ""Keeping a Praise-Praise Diary"" (ほめほめ日記).
Phase 3: Real-World Application (Weeks 7-10)
Week 7: Project Launch: Introduction to the Interview Project and Role Model Case Study. Students form groups and select topics/interviewees.
Week 8: Project Work: In-class time for project planning, research, and peer consultation.
Week 9: Mid-point Check-in: Sharing progress on projects. Workshop on overcoming obstacles.
Week 10: Case Study Presentations: Small groups present their findings on learning role models.
Phase 4: Integration and Sustainability (Weeks 11-13)
Week 11: Interview Project Presentations: Students share what they learned from interviewing professionals.
Week 12: Reflection & Synthesis (Principle 8): Workshop on ""Training your ability to reflect"" and creating sustainable learning systems.
Week 13: Final Presentations: Students present their ""Personal Transformation Plans"" for lifelong learning. Course wrap-up."
授業の方法
"本授業は、アクティブ・ラーニング（主体的な学びを促す対話型の学習）を中心に行います。担当教員によるショートレクチャーに加え、ペアや小グループでのディスカッション、テキストに基づく実践的なワークショップ、リフレクション（省察的実践）、およびプロジェクト型学習（インタビュー調査、ケーススタディなど）を積極的に取り入れます。学生が自らの理解とスキルを能動的に構築できる、協力的で支援的なコミュニティを創出することを目指します。
This course is centered on active learning. In addition to short lectures by the instructor, the class will incorporate interactive methods such as pair and small group discussions, hands-on workshops based on the textbook, reflective practices (journaling), and project-based learning (interviews, case studies). The aim is to create a collaborative and supportive community where students can actively construct their own understanding and skills.

All students will be evaluated on (1) Class Contribution 授業への貢献度 ; (2) Worksheet & Journal Submissions ワークシート・ジャーナルの提出; (3) Final Project 最終課題
