グローバル教養科目(Photographing Tokyo: Looking at One’s Place in the Urban Landscape)

Photographing Tokyo: Looking at One's Place in the Urban Landscape
This course is an opportunity for students to learn about photography and landscape along with the modern metropolis of Tokyo in which they find themselves. In this age inundated with Instagram, it aims to encourage students to slow down to think on photography both as an artistic medium and a tool for contemplation, to learn about Tokyo and improve photographic skills.

履修上の注意
【If the number of students enrolling in this course exceeds the number determined by the instructor, there may be a selection process. Instructions for the selection process will be given in the first class, so if you are interested in taking this course, please be sure to attend the first class.】 While guidance may be given on film photography and printing, the assumption is that students will primarily use a digital camera. Students should own or plan to buy a camera to use for the class, not including a smartphone. They should ideally bring a device with a larger screen, such as a laptop or tablet, to present images. Students wishing to use film must bear the cost of film, and development, printing scanning or darkroom rental. Interested students must attend the first week and bring some photographs to show in the class, in the event there is the need to limit enrolment.
