グローバル教養科目（Photographing Tokyo: Looking at One’s Place in the Urban Landscape）

The class time will consist of lectures on photographic techniques, the history of photography and landscape painting, and the history of Tokyo, and presentations and discussions of student photographs. There may be optional visits to museums outside of class time.

From these photographs, students will put together a portfolio to present to the class at the end of the semester.

Instructions for the selection process will be given in the first class, so if you are interested in taking this course, please be sure to attend the first class.】 While guidance may be given on film photography and printing, the assumption is that students will primarily use a digital camera. Students should own or plan to buy a camera to use for the class, not including a smartphone. They should ideally bring a device with a larger screen, such as a laptop or tablet, to present images. Students wishing to use film must bear the cost of film, and development, printing scanning or darkroom rental. Interested students must attend the first week and bring some photographs to show in the class, in the event there is the need to limit enrolment.
