グローバル教養科目(Exploring Global Englishes)

Exploring Global Englishes
English is the dominant international language of the 21st century. English is spoken by more than two billion people across the globe as the language of communications, science, information technology, business, entertainment, and diplomacy. It has been described as the world's lingua franca and is frequently used for communication between people who do not share a language. In this course, we will explore such a phenomenon: Global Englishes (GE) through a series of GE-informed tasks and activities.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Become acquainted with collective knowledge from relevant fields, such as World Englishes, English as a Lingua Franca, Global Englishes, and English as an International Language, and the impact that this knowledge may have on English language learning and teaching.
2. Critically analyse and discuss various GE topics.
3. Conduct research on an GE topic and give a (conference) presentation.
