Case Study: Macroeconomic and Financial Policies I
Become capable of reading and writing theoretical and empirical analyses on current global economic issues at the level often discussed among international policy experts.
• To build the capacity to understand policy issues on current macroeconomic and financial issues in the world.
• To be familiar with major theoretical arguments and empirical methods.
• To improve policy discussion skills:
oPresenting (advertising/defending)
oServing as discussant (praising/criticizing)

授業計画
• Two 45 min presentations by students in one class. All students are expected to engage lively in open floor discussions. • MA Students who are about to submit thesis and research papers in this semester will present them in October and November. Students who plan to submit thesis and research papers in next semester will present the outline of their research in December. Ph.D. students show the progress of their research occasionally. • In any other classes, students will present summary and key intakes of articles, which students select such sources as FEDS Notes, SF Fed Economic Letters, analytical chapters of World Economic Outlook and Global Financial Stability Report issued semiannually by the IMF, original articles behind VoxEU, or academic reviews published in the Journal of Economic Literatures and the Journal of Economic Perspectives. • Presentation schedule will be determined in the class.

参考書
This course may use articles from FEDS Notes, SF Fed Economic Letters, analytical chapters of World Economic Outlook and Global Financial Stability Report issued semiannually by the IMF, original articles behind VoxEU, or academic reviews published in the Journal of Economic Literatures and the Journal of Economic Perspectives.
履修上の注意
Target students are • Second-year master students who are writing or about to write a research paper or master thesis in the related area • Doctor students who are writing dissertation in the related area • Students who are supervised by Taisuke Nakata or Kenichi Ueda Prerequisites are Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Statistical Methods (or their equivalents). Recommend to have taken or to take International Financial Policy, Economic Crisis, and Development Economics Macroeconomic Approach.
