Case Study (Institutions and Methods of Health Technology Assessment in Healthcare Policy)

・Students learn about Health Technology Assessment (HTA) institutions in the world and develop the HTA literacy with global standards, which is required for public policy-making and business in healthcare.
・A group of two or three students is asked to perform a short presentation regarding one institution assigned in advance (for example, NICE in the UK), and the presentation is followed by class discussions.
・International HTA experts in Asia, the US or Europe are invited in several classes to give their lectures online.

1) Health care and insurance systems in the world: HTA for universal health coverage 2) HTA agencies in the world: Historical perspectives 3) The principles and methods of HTA and pharmacoeconomics (I) 4) The principles and methods of HTA and pharmacoeconomics (II) 5) Group presentation for UK-NICE and France-HAS 6) Group presentation for Germany: IQWiG with invited lecture by a German HTA expert 7) Group presentation for Asia: selected countries such as Korea/Thailand/Singapore 8) Group presentation for China/Taiwan with invited lecture by a Chinese professor 9) HTA policy in Japan: new institutionalization of HTA since 2019 10) invited lecture by a US professor: data, training and CEA Registry in USA 11) invited lecture by an international HTA expert: research consulting for HTA in the world 12) invited lecture by a US professor: ISPOR and value assessment framework 13) HTA to the future beyond Covid-19 pandemic

成績評価方法
Term paper (50%), class contribution including group-work presentation* (40%) and attendance (10%) (The group-work presentation is required for credit acquisition.)
