Advanced Industrial Organization

Graduate Industrial Organization 1
This course is the introductory sequence in graduate-level industrial organization, focusing on empirical methods and applications of research in Industrial Organization. It examines analytical frameworks and econometric tools often used to investigate real-world markets – markets that are rarely perfectly competitive or strictly monopolistic. Instead, they feature strategic interactions among dominant firms, intermediaries and consumers, where outcomes are often driven by endogeneity and simultaneity.

Recognizing the importance of bridging theory and practice, this year’s syllabus incorporates an enriched series of guest lectures, who will share their experiences and discuss real-world challenges. These sessions will provide firsthand perspectives on regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and strategic decision-making in complex industrial environments.
