Policy and Governance in Contemporary China
This course will introduce critical political, economic and social issues in contemporary China, and the policy measures taken by the Chinese government. Regarded as the “most serious competitor” to the United States, China’s development direction and challenges will also be discussed. By the end of this course, students are expected to be able to understand how China has achieved rapid economic growth and social transformation, the fundamental characteristics of policy and governance in China, and their impact on current issues and future challenges.
