Japan's Modernization Experience and Its ODA Policy

Japan’s ODA for Promotion of the Rule of Law (Masayoshi Takehara, Deputy Director General, Governance and Peacebuilding Department, JICA) 12. Roughly half of the course will be taught by professors of The University of Tokyo and the other half by current and former members of JICA. Each week a different topic is covered by a lecturer with the expertise. Each class will be divided into lecture and discussion.

Grade evaluation will be made on the student’s attendance, presentation and term paper. (There could be changes depending on the size of the class.)

There will be no specific textbook.

Readings will be assigned prior to the class when needed.

Those taking part in the JICA Development Studies Program are required to take this course, while other students are most welcome to take part.
