Ethics and International Relations
This course provides an overview of the main ethical questions arising within international politics, both in academic discussions in their historical evolution, and from the perspective of practitioners. It is designed for an audience of postgraduate students. Some background in International Relations theory is welcome, although not required. Ideally, students may take this course following my Introduction to International Politics.
By the end of this course the students should have acquainted themselves with the main questions lying at the intersection of ethics and International Relations/international politics, becoming familiar with the concepts and jargons of ethical theory, just war, ethics of war and warfare, responsibility to protect, human rights and global justice.
