比較社会論
This course introduces students to the issues, methods, and concepts of economic anthropology. Economic anthropologists try to ask questions about human nature, power and social life in all cultures. The material for the course will consider issues of production, distribution, and consumption in non-Western societies as well as Western societies. We will be thinking about the purpose of work and material goods, the comparison of gifts and commodities, why poverty exists, the evolution of regional and global economies, and the way contemporary capitalist economies shape other aspects of society and culture.
1.To expose students to the basic arguments and literature of economic anthropology, so as to encourage students to think about cross-cultural economic phenomena.
2.To train students to be more effective readers of academic literature.
3.To train students to be more effective at oral argumentation, by encouraging them to discuss their ideas and interpretations in class.
