応用日本語(3)(PEAK)
Applied Japanese (3) : Listening and Conversation(L2)
This elective course is designed for students with elementary-mid to high proficiency in Japanese. The course focuses on developing practical listening and speaking skills for everyday communication through familiar topics and real-life situations. A situational and functional approach is adopted to help students use Japanese effectively in daily interactions.
Students complete listening activities outside of class using online materials in preparation for classroom communication tasks. Class time is devoted primarily to interactive speaking activities, including pair work, role plays, and group discussions based on the listening assignments. Rather than emphasizing explicit grammar instruction, the course develops communicative competence by introducing and practicing the vocabulary and functional expressions needed for successful communication. By engaging in communicative tasks and utilizing instructor and peer feedback, students will develop greater confidence, fluency, and cultural insights in everyday Japanese contexts.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
•understand the main ideas of short spoken Japanese on familiar everyday topics;
•participate in simple conversations in common daily situations using appropriate vocabulary and expressions;
•communicate using simple, connected Japanese sentences to express ideas and exchange information in familiar everyday situations;
•ask for and provide basic information, express preferences, and make simple requests in Japanese;
•use basic communication strategies, such as asking for repetition or clarification, to maintain conversations;
•communicate with greater confidence and fluency through regular listening and speaking practice;
•demonstrate an awareness of appropriate language use in everyday Japanese-speaking contexts.
