電磁気学の基礎(PEAK)

Electromagnetism (PEAK)
Electromagnetism is at the heart of many, if not all, natural sciences. In fact, chemical bondings are no more than electromagnetic couplings, whilst diverse activities in living things are largely controlled by the electromagnetic interactions. This course is intended to be an introduction to the concepts of classical yet modern theories of electromagnetism building on the Maxwell’s equations and Lorentz force. Key topics include electrostatics and magnetostatics, time-varying electric and magnetic fields with their origins, scalar and vector potentials, and electrodynamics. Relevant topics including special theory of relativity in view of potential applications will also be covered. More than a handful series of table-top, hands-on experiments for demonstrative purposes are planned.
