経済・統計(PEAK)
This is a topics course on economics and statistical models. We will approach the models from a mathematical, empirical, and applied perspective. There will be a fair amount of reading and class grades will depend on both a final exam and class discussion (making comments, asking questions, etc.). The overall goal is to give you a sense of how economics and statistics can be used to answer policy important questions. Topics will include markets, supply and demand, competition, monopoly, public goods, the commons, environmental policy, human capital, economic history, GDP, economic growth, monetary policy, finance, and AI. Compared to previous years I am to conduct this class in a more discussion based format but that will depend on student interest and effort. As a default we may resort to pure lecture style with homework and quizzes. This will be my final year teaching at PEAK as I will be on sabbatical in 2027.
*All sessions, including the first class, will be held in person.
