国際・地域Ⅱ(PEAK)

Introduction to International Organizations
This course explores international organizations (IOs) from historical and theoretical perspectives. What is the United Nations (UN), and how has it evolved into its current form? What are regional organizations (ROs), and why do they matter? How should we analyze IOs?

To address these questions, the course is divided into three parts. First, it examines the political contexts in which IOs were established and developed, aiming to "demystify" them. Second, it provides an overview of the history, institutional structure, and recent challenges facing ROs, with a particular focus on the European Union (EU). Finally, it introduces theoretical debates by contrasting traditional approaches to IOs with more critical perspectives.
