Visual Ethnography: Filmmaking for Fieldwork
This course seeks to understand a way of exploring and presenting academic research about social life and human behavior using a combination of scientific research method and artistic cinematography. During the course students will carry out “mini-fieldwork” in everyday life context and record ethnographic data using a camera and microphone. Upon completion of the course, student should be able to use video camera as a research tool in fieldwork, able to make ethnographic documentary film and able to distinguish and express how filmic narratives are linked to specific socio- cultural contexts.
