Academic Paper WritingⅠ

このクラスは、主に、学術論文を英文雑誌に投稿する博士課程課程の学生を対象とします。学術英語の基礎だけではなくて、論文の構成、参考文献の取り扱いや雑誌に投稿する方法を教えます。詳しい授業内容は、履修する学生のニーズに合わせます。週ごとに授業テーマを決めます。下記の「授業計画」のところに、昨年（2025）度に取り上げた授業テーマを参考として記しています。
課題として、自分の研究について英語文章を書いてもらいます。分量は決まっていませんが、目安として毎週200ワード程度を執筆して提出すればいいです。履修生が前週提出した分に個別にフィードバックを与えて、改善するための具体的なアドバイスをします。そのフィードバックを生かして、次の週に改正したドラフトを書けばいいです。タームの最後まで、まとまった研究論文ができることが理想ですが、必須ではありません。
授業で利用する言語は、学生の要求に応じて、日本語か英語のどちらか採用します。
This class is mainly directed at doctoral students intending to submit research papers for publication in an English academic journal. Besides covering the basics of academic English, it will also include such areas as how to structure an academic paper, how to deal with reference material, and how to submit to a journal. The detailed course content will be adjusted to the specific needs of the students in the class. A specific topic will be selected for each week. For reference, the topics covered in last year’s (2025) classes are shown below under “Schedule”.
Students will be required to submit a sample (approximately 200 words long) of their writing every week as homework. Individual feedback will be given to each student, allowing students to improve their writing and submit revised drafts in the following week. While it is desirable that each student will be able to produce a full paper by the end of the term, this is not a requirement.
Classes will be conducted in either Japanese or English, depending on the preferences of the students attending.
