The GPSS-GLI Student Seminar has been held since October 2012. For this seminar, we randomly divide all students into several groups to create more opportunities for presentations and vibrant discussions. The GPSS-GLI Student Seminar is an indispensable component of the interdisciplinary approach to sustainability science. The seminar is held from 13:00 to 14:45 every Friday.
The groups are decided randomly regardless of field of research. The number of master’s and doctoral students is distributed as evenly as possible among the groups. Each group has approx. 20 students. The group members will be shuffled every semester.
One PhD Coordinator is selected in each group to organize the seminar. The PhD Coordinator’s main roles are the management of the seminar and the facilitation of the discussions. The PhD Coordinator works closely with the presenters and assistant professors in each group in setting the order of presentation, allocating discussants and coaches, etc.
Basically 2-3 presentations are given at each session, followed by time for questions from the discussant(s) and the audience.
Presentation summaries (abstract) must be uploaded on Google Drive in FApps in by noon on the Monday prior to your presentation.
Presentation slides must be uploaded on the Google Drive in FS Apps by noon on the Friday prior to your presentation.
Students are asked to take the Presentation Skill guidance at least once.
