生態系保全管理の定量的手法
This course introduces mathematical/quantitative methods used in ecosystem management and conservation. In particular, it focuses on constructing and analyzing mathematical models, and discussing their implications for ecosystem management and conservation. The course aims to encourage critical thinking in order to assess the validity of these methods and to explore possibilities for further improvement.

The lectures will cover the following topics.
(1) What is mathematical modeling?
(2) Elements of dynamical systems
(3) Population dynamics
(4) Fisheries management
(5) Risk of species extinction
(6) Protected areas
(7) Decision-making in ecosystem management
授業の方法
The course will be delivered in the form of lectures, which will be held in Lecture Room 7 in the Environmental Studies Building on the Kashiwa Campus.
成績評価方法
Grading is based on 50% attendance and 50% report assignments.
履修上の注意
Students who do not have a basic knowledge of linear algebra and calculus are required to take the course Basic Mathematics for International Studies.
