この授業は、S2ターム開講の集中授業として米国サンフランシスコにて、下記の２大学にて実施される.

2)University of California, Berkeley (東京大学戦略提携校）Undergraduate school of public health URL:https://publichealth.berkeley.edu/*****
受講者は、Sセメスター（４−7月）開講の、国際研修＆後期国際研修グローバルヘルス入門(Introduction to Global Health （Part1)（又は同等のコースを受講し合格した）者が、グローバルヘルス教育の本場アメリカで、現地大学の教員、学生（公衆衛生やグローバルヘルスを学部レベルあるいは大学院レベルで学ぶ学生）と共に、秋学期授業を聴講し、東大生向け特別授業への参加を通じて切磋琢磨（力試し）する、実践的なグローバルヘルス入門演習である。将来公衆衛生大学院修士・博士課程への進学や、国連機関、開発援助機関、INGOにおいて国際開発研究や援助活動に従事したい学生の初めの一歩を後押しすることを目指す。
This training is a Global Praxis and Global Praxis Advanced course held in San Francisco, California, USA in partnership with two schools 1) University of San Francisco , School of Public Health (Master’s level) URL: https://www.usfca.edu/***** and 2) University of California, Berkeley (東京大学戦略提携校）Undergraduate school of public health URL:https://publichealth.berkeley.edu/*****
Those participants who completed the preceding Global Praxis course (Introduction to Global Health Part1) or any equivalent course taken before will be permitted to attend this course.

授業計画
本研修は以下の充実した内容が盛り込まれており、将来公衆衛生大学院への進学・長期留学や開発援助分野での活躍検討している学生にふさわしい研修である。
Main training:
August 26-28 Travel to US
August 29-September 9 (2 weeks at University of San Francisco)
-Lectures, workshops
-Field trips to observe health services in community settings
-Intercultural Learning and Simulation exercise with USF students
-MPH Info Session & Career Panel
-Cross-cultural activities with USF students, social outings
September 11- 17 (1 week attending classes at UC Berkeley)
-Lectures, regularly scheduled Undergraduate Public Health courses with UC Berkeley students
-Student exchange events (hosted by UC Berkeley School of Public Health)
-Campus tour
Weekend and Labor day(Sep,9)
Sightseeing (visit museums, state library)
September 18-19 San-Francisco-Haneda (travel back to Japan)
授業の方法
This course will be conducted in English. Students are expected to read the assignment papers prior to each lecture and workshop and understand contexts and contents, then prepare for discussions in class. Some of the classes are only designed for U-Tokyo students while there are several classes the students will participate in and audit classes offered in Autumn semesters of partner universities.
By interacting with local students and faculty members at Univ SFC and UC-Berkeley, students are expected to become non- hesitant to use their global health topic knowledge and skills to strengthen understanding Global Health thematic areas covered ruing the course.
Throughout the course period, experienced teachers from U-Tokyo will provide mentoring and coaching support and give advice on study methods according to their level.

Class participation (80%)
Final report (20%)
履修上の注意
1.受講者は、Sセメスターに開講する「国際研修：グローバルヘルス入門」コースあるいは同様と認められるコース（コースコーディネーターに確認してください）を受講した学生の中から選考する。
2.グローバルヘルスに関する学びを更に深め、将来グローバルヘルスまたは開発・外交関連でのキャリアを積むことを考えている学生で、英語力中級レベルの学習意欲が高い者を優先する。
3.応募者選抜を行う。出発前オリエンテーションあり。
Those who took and successfully completed preceding course (グローバルヘルス入門(Introduction to Global Health Part1) ) or equivalent course (talk to the coordinator, in this case) can apply for this course. In order to maximize the learning mid-level command of English usage would be strongly recommended/considered, but more importantly, those who convince coordinators with their strong desire to challenge themselves in challenging environment and those who seriously consider pursuing their career in academia or working in area of development cooperation and global health would be prioritized. Applicants will go through selection process. There will be two orientations once general orientation before application process and one just before departure.

Please note that due to the planned schedule of this course (being held in September, S2 term), grades are expected to be registered and published only after the designated confirmation date (late September-October).
※新型コロナ及び米国と日本双方の出入国規制に伴い、渡航が不可能となる場合があり、またその場合、研修の延期あるいはオンライン/VR代替研修に切り替わる可能性がありますので留意ください。

コースコーディネーターはロンドン大学熱帯医学衛生大学院（LSHTM)にて博士課程学位を取得し、20年近く国連職員として長年発展途上国・中進国の数多くの国の現場にて、母子保健、エイズ、マラリア、若者の健康、難民や移民などの緊急医療現場でさまざまな課題に取り組んできた豊富な経験を有します。欧米・豪のアカデミア、開発援助の現場の実務者との豊富なネットワーク及び、実務経験、特に各国政府高官政策アドバイザリー経験、現場・現地に根ざした研究の実績、教育経験をもとに学生を指導します。
