本ゼミナールでは、日本の誇る科学技術を世界に発信するために戦ってきた先駆者や、国外の機関で留学・研究・技術開発の経験を積んだ講演者の方々をお招きし、彼らの成功秘話や失敗談について語る。また、国際交渉の仕方、第二言語習得論、言語学習のストラテジー、英語の履歴書やEメールの書き方、グループプレゼンテーションの仕方なども授業で扱う予定である。このような活動を通して、世界への扉を拓くのに不可欠な英語力、異文化間能力(intercultural competence)を習得し、工学の分野での世界展開に興味を持ってもらうことを目的としている。授業の使用言語は英語であり、教員との連絡もすべて英語で行う。
※1. このゼミは4月6日（火）6限にZoomで行われる工学部合同ガイダンスへの参加を予定しています。
※2. ハイブリッド式の授業形態を予定していますが、コロナの状況や講演者の方々の希望などにより、完全にオンラインで授業をする可能性もあります。
※3. 履修者の上限は25人です。感染対策のため、対面授業の履修者の上限は18人とします。残りの7人には同時中継で参加してもらいます。
※4. 履修希望者が25人の上限を超えた場合、授業初日に行うアンケートの内容を考慮し、２週目の授業までに教員が選抜し、その結果をメールします。
※5. 第1週はオンラインで行います。興味のある学生は必ず参加してください。
In this seminar, we will hear lectures by world-famous engineers who have striven to disseminate their knowledge to the world and those who have engaged in study, research, and technical development outside of Japan. We will discuss their success stories as well as challenges in working with engineers from other parts of the world. The class will also cover various topics including how to manage international negotiations, how to learn a second language and how to do so strategically, and how to write a resume/CV, email, and give a presentation in English. Through these activities, students are expected to acquire the English skills that are essential for "opening the gateway to the world of engineering" and develop a deeper understanding of engineering and its development overseas. English is the common language used in this class, and students are expected to communicate with the instructor and invited lecturers in English.
