Writing a Research Proposal

Research Proposal
By the end of this course, you will have: (1) Decided on your research topic (if not already known), (2) Identified a research question within your topic and prepared an hypothesis (if applicable), (3) Evaluated your experimental approach, (4) Prepared a plan for your research, (5) Set short-term and long-term goals, (6) Improved your ability to write in scientific English, and (7) Written a research proposal
Finally, as English has become the de facto language of science, you will have opportunities to present and discuss your research in English with the Instructor and other students. Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to view the course guidance

The first half of the course involves planning your research. In the second half you will write your research proposal (RP). All students will give a short presentation about their research in week 6. 1. How to find a research topic 2. Identify a research question 3. Evaluate your experimental approach 4. Plan your research 5. Set short-term and long-term goals 6. Seek feedback 7. Scientific writing 8. Introduction (RP) 9. Statement of the problem (RP) 10. Literature review (RP) 11. Method (RP) 11. Peer editing the Method (RP) 12. Significance/Implications (RP) 13. Plan of work (RP) 14. Anticipated results (RP) Class schedule is subject to change
授業の方法
Class lectures, group discussions and pair work ***Important*** This course will likely be conducted online using Zoom in S2021 because of the on-going coronavirus pandemic,
成績評価方法
Research proposal (70%), presentation (10%), and attendance (20%). Students will need to submit their Research proposal to pass this course. There is no final exam. Students will be encouraged to submit writing assignments most weeks to get feedback from the Instructor but this will NOT be mandatory or graded. However, to receive feedback, all assignments must be submitted on time. If you think you will be late to submit an assignment, just continue to work on it more and submit it to the Instructor one week later
