木材化学特論Ⅰ
Basic Lignin Chemistry
Lignin occupies about 20-30% of wood cell wall, which is the most characteristic difference of wood from other plants. In this class, not only basic but also recent novel information on lignin structure will be introduced. These lignin structures will be explained in connection with the lignin biosynthetic process, because the history of the process remains and appears in the structures. You will be able to acquire basic knowledge on wood (native) lignin from this class. Although the name of this class is 'Basic lignin chemistry', the contents of this class are based on those you learned in your undergraduate course.

授業計画
This lecture is carried out on-line regardless of the description in the handbook of the graduate school. The 1st time of this lecture begins at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 8. The URL is informed at the bottom of this page 'Online Class URL' and in the UTOL.
The last (7th) class is held on June 3, a makeup class day. Instead, the class is canceled on May 7 (Thursday), the scheduled date for classes held on Monday.
The contents of this class are as follows:
1) Biosynthetic pathway of monoligniol
2) Mechanism of lignin formation
3) Chemical structure of lignin
4) Analytical method for lignin structure
授業の方法
Materials for this class will be distributed in the UTOL.
The lecturer recommends you to print the materials out in advance or view them via an electronic device other than that for viewing this class, because the lecturer will project hand-writing contents onto your main device.
When you will not have been able to attend lecture, you will be able to view on-demand video using links shown in the UTOL.
成績評価方法
Grade will be evaluated by your participation status (70%) and a report you will prepare and submit after the last class (30%).
