流体工学特論1
When the Reynolds number is beyond a certain critical value, a flow transits from laminar to turbulence, and exhibits complex structures in space and time. This makes it challenging to analyze, predict and control turbulent flows.
In this lecture, we will introduce the fundamentals of turbulence and associated transport processes for momentum, heat and mass. Starting from Reynolds averaging, we will explain how the instantaneous flow field can be decomposed into the averaged and fluctuating quantities. Then, we discuss how the mean and fluctuating components are interact, and then you will be able to see why turbulence is difficult to understand. We will also explain spatio-temporal turbulent structures and their scalings. Finally, we also introduce more recent attempts to predict and control complex turbulent flows. All lectures will be delivered by a face-to-face basis, unless otherwise stated.
