数値熱流体工学

Numerical Thermal and Fluid Engineering
This lecture will be delivered by five professors in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics and Astronautics Departments, who will talk about their individual specialized fields. Starting with resulting governing equations for a fluid/thermal problem, the lecture will give an overview of the numerical methods, including the spatial and temporal discretization methods. The solution algorithms for compressible fluid flows and those for incompressible fluid flows are quite different ant they will then be explained in detail. Most of the engineering flows are turbulent and the lecture will discuss how to compute turbulent flows. The lecture will also discuss free surface flows and moving boundary problems because they are important in some applications. Design optimizations and reduced order models accumulate a keen interest in fluids/thermal engineering, which will also be covered. The lecture will end by describing the programing models adopted for the latest-architecture computers.

授業の方法
Lectures are given in the class rooom with homework assignments and excersice problems during Lectures
成績評価方法
Grade Evaluations: The course grade will be evaluated based on the attendance to the classes and the results of the final examination, which will take place presumably on the closed-notes and closed-textbook basis. The final examination will focus on the fundamentals. Note on the final exam: The exam may also take place on an open-notes and/or open textbook basis. Later in this lecture, the registered students will be notified how to take the final exam in detail. Every year, some students request to submit a report and/or to take the final exam on a different day by claiming that they cannot take the final exam on the designated day due to their presentation in an academic conference coincidently scheduled on the same day as the final exam. However, we cannot consider these requests because, if we did that, it would be difficult to make a fair evaluation of the course grade among all the registered students. If you do not take the final exam, no credit will simply be given for this lecture.
履修上の注意
There will be some Homework Assignements.
その他
<備考> All the lectures will be delivered basically in the classroom. The lectures will be delivered basically in English. But, additional explanations will also be given in Japanese when the instructors find it necessary and/or appropriate.
