The 2026 project theme is Health. Students will investigate complex social and structural challenges related to health – mental and / or physical well-being. Working in teams, students will explore the intersection of health and other domains, such as culture, food, entertainment, or technology, to develop proposals for future products, services or systems. --- 2026年度のプロジェクトテーマは「健康（Health）」です。学生は、メンタルおよび／または身体的ウェルビーイングに関わる複雑な社会的・システム的課題に取り組みます。 チームで活動しながら、健康と文化、食、エンターテインメント、テクノロジーなど他分野との接点を探り、将来のプロダクト、サービス、またはシステムの提案を行います。 ---

Students are assessed based on four primary components, reflecting the experiential and collaborative nature of the design process: 1. Engagement: This measures your active participation and involvement in weekly class workshops and team activities. 2. Creative Output: Design is ultimately the pursuit of well-developed, good ideas. You are evaluated on the quality of the outputs created throughout the semester and the final presentation of your project. 3. Project Report (Work & Reflections): You must submit a comprehensive report detailing the work conducted, including the research, ideation, and prototyping phases. You will also be required to include your reflections on the process. 4. Peer Review: Because work is carried out in interdisciplinary teams, a peer review is conducted where each member evaluates the input and collaborative contribution of their teammates. --- To ensure academic rigor, this course uses the full range of grades from A (Excellent) to D (Fail). Grades reflect the overall quality of student performance in the course. Excellent (A) Awarded for work that goes beyond standard completion to demonstrate truly outstanding performance. This includes strong interdisciplinary integration, originality, and high-quality creative output, as well as clear communication of ideas and process. Good (B) Awarded for solid and well-developed work that meets the course objectives. Projects demonstrate clear understanding of the design process, good collaboration, and effective communication, though may lack the depth, refinement, or originality of A-level work. Satisfactory (C) Awarded for work that meets the minimum requirements of the course. Basic engagement with the design process is evident, but outcomes may be underdeveloped, inconsistent, or lacking in clarity, depth, or collaboration. Fail (D) Awarded where course requirements are not met. This may include insufficient participation, incomplete submissions, or a lack of engagement with the design process. --- 学生の評価は、デザインプロセスの実践性および協働性を反映した以下の4つの主要項目に基づいて行われます： 1. エンゲージメント（Engagement） 　毎週の授業内ワークショップおよびチーム活動への積極的な参加と関与を評価します。 2. クリエイティブアウトプット（Creative Output） 　デザインは最終的に、よく練られた優れたアイデアを生み出すことにあります。学期を通じて制作されたアウトプットの質および最終プレゼンテーションを評価します。 3. プロジェクトレポート（Project Report：作業内容および振り返り） 　リサーチ、アイデア創出、プロトタイピングの各段階を含む活動内容をまとめた包括的なレポートを提出する必要があります。また、プロセスに対する自身の振り返りも含めます。 4. ピアレビュー（Peer Review） 　学際的なチームでの作業であるため、各メンバーがチーム内での貢献度や協働の姿勢を相互に評価します。 --- 本授業では、学術的厳密性を担保するため、A（優）からD（不可）までの評価を使用します。成績は、授業全体を通じた学生のパフォーマンスの総合的な質に基づいて決定されます。 Excellent（A） 標準的な課題達成を超え、極めて優れた成果を示した場合に付与されます。学際的な統合の深さ、独創性、高品質な創造的アウトプットに加え、アイデアやプロセスの明確な伝達が求められます。 Good（B） 授業の目的を十分に満たした、堅実でよくまとまった成果に対して付与されます。デザインプロセスの理解、協働、コミュニケーションは良好ですが、A評価に比べて深さや洗練度、独創性においてやや劣る場合があります。 Satisfactory（C） 授業の最低要件を満たした成果に対して付与されます。デザインプロセスへの基本的な関与は見られるものの、成果が未成熟であったり、一貫性や明確さ、深さ、協働の点で不足が見られる場合があります。 Fail（D） 授業の要件を満たしていない場合に付与されます。参加不足、提出物の未完了、またはデザインプロセスへの関与が不十分である場合が該当します。 ---

Who is this class for? This class is designed for anyone interested in exploring creative idea generation, applying design innovation to real-world challenges, and experiencing the hands-on, interactive teaching style of DLX and UTokyo College of Design. What do you need to join? All you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn. No prior design experience is required. A collaborative attitude is also important, as much of the course involves working in teams to develop and test ideas. What do you need to understand? To get the most out of this class, you should understand that design thinking is a human-centered, iterative process focused on solving real-world problems. You will need to grasp the value of observing and empathizing with users, framing opportunities, generating ideas, prototyping, testing, and iterating based on feedback. It is also important to recognize that collaboration, reflection, and experimentation are central to the process, and that failure is a natural part of learning and improving your solutions. --- 本授業の対象者 本授業は、創造的なアイデア創出に関心があり、デザインイノベーションを実社会の課題に応用したいと考える方、そしてDLXおよびUTokyo College of Designの実践的かつインタラクティブな教育スタイルを体験したい方を対象としています。 受講に必要なもの 必要なのは、好奇心と学ぶ意欲だけです。デザインの経験は必要ありません。また、本授業ではチームでの活動が多いため、協働的な姿勢も重要です。 理解しておくべきこと 本授業を最大限に活用するためには、デザイン思考が人間中心で反復的なプロセスであり、実社会の課題解決に焦点を当てていることを理解しておく必要があります。ユーザーの観察と共感、機会の定義、アイデア創出、プロトタイピング、テスト、そしてフィードバックに基づく反復の重要性を把握することが求められます。また、協働、振り返り、実験がこのプロセスの中心であり、失敗は学びと改善のための自然な一部であることを理解することも重要です。 ---
