授業計画
First, the course introduction is provided by the instructors and the overview of the multi-scale, multi-chemo-physics modeling approach is introduced. Next, several good examples in concrete engineering are presented in the lectures to learn about the philosophy through the case studies. The students are then expected to study another research/project that demonstrates a good application of modeling and numerical simulations in Civil Engineering, and are required to present their survey and discussion as the Term Project.
成績評価方法
Class participation:10% (students who are more than 30 minutes late shall be marked absent) Term Project: 50% Final Report: 40% (10% deducted per day for late submission) ************** Term Project: To facilitate the active learning in this course, the students are expected to search and study a best practice of modeling and numerical simulations in Civil Engineering – not only concrete engineering but also bridge engineering, geotechnical engineering, etc. Each student (or each team, depending on the number of the registered students) is required to give a 10-min presentation with 5-min Q&A in the final lecture as the Term Project. The evaluation of the presentations will be done by the instructors based on the following criteria: (i)Clarity of the focus of the presentation (ii)Thoroughness of the survey, analysis, and discussion (iii)Effectiveness of the structure, layout, and delivery of the presentation (iv)Completion of the presentation within the allotted time frame (v)Quality and clarity of the answers in the Q&A Final Report: Each student is required to submit a final report. The details will be announced at a later date. The grade of the report will be 10% deducted per day for late submission.
