Health and Security V

Transport Science on Highways and Streets
Understand the nature of traffic flow including traffic congestion, traffic accident risk, and influence on general social activities including economy. Traffic engineering measures to alleviate negative impacts to the society should be systematically understood, including highway & street geometric design, traffic flow management and control, and utilization of emerging technologies including Intelligent Transport Systems.
In this course, first, traffic flow fundamentals and queing theory will be provided following the General introduction. Highway capacity & road geometric design and safety, intersection design & control, and Intelligent Transport Systems and its applications are the contents to be studied in this course.

授業計画
The course consists with five parts: 1) Traffic flow fundamentals including basic varibales and their nature follwed by shock wave theory and dynamic microscopic flow models, 2) Queuing theory which is separated into deterministic queuing theory and stochastic queuing theory, 3) Highway capacity, road classifications and network, road geometric design, and safety, 4) Intersection design and control including traffic signal control, and 5) Intelligent Transport systems and its applications.
授業の方法
schooling lectures combined with flip teachings
成績評価方法
Based on home work assignments which are provided for each item of the five parts of the course, considering how well studied by the lecture contents and videos provided in advance.
履修上の注意
The students are basically required to review the assigned lecture contents pdf file(s) and video(s) for each lecture class in advance, except for the first lecture class (guidance lecture). The instructures prefer to conduct flip teachings, and will try to provide additional advanced topics or information.
