Cases before International Criminal Court
国際刑事裁判所における判例
This course aims to help students understand International Criminal Law (ICL) and International Criminal Court (ICC) through cases in front of the ICC. First, the instructor will explain the foundation of ICL and characteristics of the ICC. Next, each class will review a specific case. The course will conclude with a recap of how the ICC has contributed to the development of ICL.
この授業では、実際の判例を通じて国際刑法と国際刑事裁判所についての理解を深めることを目的とする。まず国際刑法の基礎と国際刑事裁判所について説明をし、次に１授業に１つの判例を扱って理解を深める。最後に国際刑事裁判所が国際刑法の発展にどのように寄与したかについて評価をする。

授業の方法
The first two classes will be lecture and Q and A/Discussion style.
Classes 3 - 12 will be looking into cases and situations. These classes will start with students' presentation with case notes, class discussion and recap.
Class 13 will be an all-class discussion, led by the course instructor.
成績評価方法
Active participation 20%
Presentation 30%
Case notes 10%
Final paper 40%
履修上の注意
Generally, students should check the facts and contentious points of the case/situation that will be discussed in each class before the class. Each student will be assigned to make a case note and make a presentation at least once during the course, either individually or in a group. Case notes and presentation should be prepared before the class.
