Theory of Transnational Markets and Civil Society I
International Finance
国際金融
We will study issues/problems in international finance from economic, political, historical and international relations perspectives. We will look at inherent vulnerabilities of the international financial system, and understand the essence of the measures to address them through the accumulated theories and policies. I will also talk about my experience in working at international financial institutions whenever opportunities arise.
現在の国際金融上の諸問題を経済、政治、歴史、国際関係論的文脈で考察する。国際金融がシステムとして抱える脆弱性の淵源を学び、解決のために積み上げられてきた理論と政策議論を通して、問題への対応策の本質を理解する。機会に応じて、国際金融機関で働く経験についても紹介する。

授業の方法
Classes are conducted in classroom including the first lecture. (Please note this is not a hybrid class.) Students are strongly encouraged to volunteer to do a small research project (individually or in group) for presentation/discussion towards the end of the term.
授業は第一回を含めすべて対面のみで行われる。受講生有志は学期終盤にリサーチの発表を行う。
成績評価方法
Exam and class participation. Volunteers for research will get extra points. Absence from 3 or more classes without justifiable reasons will result in lower grades.
学期末試験とクラス内での貢献度による。リサーチへのボランティアは特別加算を受ける。やむを得ない場合を除き、3回以上の無断欠席は減点対象とする。
履修上の注意
Students are expected to watch/read the news on the world economy and international finance.
講義期間中は、新聞やテレビで世界経済・国際金融関係のニュースに接しておくことが期待される。

How could this class benefit students' future career path? Those who pursue academic careers in international economics will understand policy constraints facing government and those studying international relations will learn to pay attention to economic considerations in power politics. Students who prefer "real-world" working experience will obtain basic historical knowledge about international finance, which should help them deal with business needs. Finally, it is hoped that students will find it worthwhile to work for international financial institutions at one point in their career.
本コースは将来のキャリアにどのように役立つであろうか？研究者として国際経済を志向する学生は政府の制約を理解し、国際関係論専攻の学生はパワーポりティクスに潜む経済的考慮を学ぶであろう。将来ビジネスに携わる学生は、国際金融の歴史にかかる基本知識を得ることで、業務上の要請により適切に対処できるようになろう。更には国際機関勤務への長期的な関心を涵養したい。
