Contemporary Armed Conflicts, UN Charter and International Humanitarian Law
今日の武力紛争、国連憲章と国際人道法
This course aims at building the ability to apply the United Nations Charter (in terms of when a State is allowed to use force) and International Humanitarian Law to contemporary armed conflicts. The course is designed for students without much international law background. The content may be altered depending on who register to the course.
この授業は、国連憲章上国家が武力を行使できる範囲と条件を確認した後、今日的な武力紛争に国際人道法を適用して討議できる能力を体得することを目的とする。国際法の基礎がなくても参加できるように授業を構成しているが、履修する学生の層によってコンテンツを多少変更する可能性がある。
この授業は、国連憲章上国家が武力を行使できる範囲と条件を確認した後、今日的な武力紛争に国際人道法を適用して討議できる能力を体得することを目的とする。国際法の基礎がなくても参加できるように授業を構成しているが、履修する学生の層によってコンテンツを多少変更する可能性がある。

授業の方法
The course will take multiple teaching methods: lectures, presentations, reading designed materials, discussion and role-play. In the case studies, students are expected to make team discussion and presentations. There will be a few times of reaction papers and a final term paper assignment.
Registered students are expected to make one presentation during the course.
この授業は講義、プレゼンテーション、ディスカッション、ロールプレイなど、様々な方法を用いて行う。ケーススタディではチームを作り、チームで発表する予定。履修学生には各々一度、コンテポラリーなプロテクションのトピックについてプレゼンテーションをしてもらう予定。数回のリアクションペーパーを課する。小論文の最終課題がある。
成績評価方法
Active class participation 20%, presentation, team discussion and presentations 30%, reaction papers 10%, final essay 40%.
