多文化共生・統合人間学講義Ⅵ
Care Work in Comparative Perspective
Care work is labour that contributes to the well-being of others. It can include cleaning, cooking, washing clothes, caring for children or the elderly. In recent history such reproductive and often unpaid labour was primarily performed by women. However, trends such as women's greater participation in the labour force and demographic aging in highly developed economies have had important implications for the care work sector. This course will focus on different dimension s of care to explore issues around culture, gender equality, migration, class, ethnicity, sexuality and social policy. Case-studies will be considered comparatively to draw out commonalities and differences in the organization of care.
