WEEK 1 - Introductory lecture and guidance: basic notions, terminology, course plan, learning methods, readings and other resources’ overview WEEK 2 - Global Commons: An Emerging Arena of Contestation of Global Governance Structures and Norms? Classes consist of short interactive lectures, followed by both group and classroom discussions addressing core concepts and/or focusing on case studies. These discussions are generally based on pre-assigned readings and build on a list of questions proposed in advance. Students will also prepare and present a joint mini-project. However, as not all PEAK students may be able to attend these online sessions, it will be possible to obtain all information and undertake all activities asynchronously i.e. there will be no penalty to students who cannot attend the online class.

* Active participation to group and classroom discussions + short oral presentations : 30%. * Individual write-ups (submission of a total of four 500-word write-ups) : 30%. * Mini-project, consisting of both a final joint presentation and a final individual report (about 1000 words) : 40%.

Will not use textbook. Most reading materials will be made available in class.

Will not use reference book. Reference books will be introduced throughout the course.

No prior study of governance of the global commons is required, but a strong interest and a serious commitment to learning about contemporary challenges and issues from an interdisciplinary perspective is crucial. This class is conducted in the active learning style, and constructive participation by students is highly encouraged.
