毎週、事前に割りあてられた発表者が、指定された論文について、レジュメを用いて内容を日本語で要約するとともに、批判的に検討し、論点や疑問点を提示する。その後、他の履修者も含めて、発表内容を中心に質疑応答と議論を行う。発表者以外も、毎回指定された論文を必ず読んでくることが求められる。

授業での発表、質疑応答と議論への貢献から総合的に評価する。

授業時間は90分間（17:05-18:35）だが、演習形式の授業であり、質疑応答や議論を重視するため、多少の時間延長はありうる。4月8日（水）5限の第1回目の授業（この回はオンラインで行う）では、ガイダンスを行うとともに、第2回目以降の発表者を決める。様々な説明などを第1週目に行うので、特別な事情がない限り、履修希望者は必ず出席すること。授業で講読する論文は、東京大学図書館ウェブサイトのE-journal & E-book Portalからダウンロードすることができるか、またはオープンアクセスとなっている。東京大学図書館のウェブサイトからダウンロードできない論文は、教員から配布する。
