The Philosophical Problem of Other Minds
This class focuses on the problem of Other Minds. How do we know that others are conscious, or have minds? What is the basis of such knowledge? Is it knowledge at all? What kind of access do we have to the inner lives of others? This problem as a surprisingly recent history, and has recently become more interesting with the apparent possibility of artificial minds. We will read a number of journal articles on this issue, focussing on recent literature.
