「Sequencing technologies: from bulk to single-cell and spatial analysis
Lecture outline(講義概要)。
This lecture will introduce the fundamental concepts of sequencing data and their impact on biological research. We will start by exploring bulk sequencing approaches, including applications in genomics and epigenetics (e.g., ATAC-seq), to understand how these methods provide insights into gene expression and regulatory mechanisms. We will then discuss single-cell sequencing, highlighting how it enables the study of individual cell differences within complex tissues. Finally, we will introduce spatial transcriptomics, a cutting-edge technique that maps gene activity in its native tissue context. Throughout the lecture, we will cover basic analytical strategies and showcase real-world examples, offering a broad perspective on how sequencing data is transforming our understanding of biology.
「Introduction to Infectious Diseases and Immunology(担当教官:Cevayir COBAN)」
Lecture outline(講義概要)
EN: This course introduces the basic concepts of infectious diseases and immunology using malaria as a representative model. Students will learn about Plasmodium parasites, immune responses to malaria, vaccine development challenges, and current research approaches including advanced imaging technologies. The course also covers how infections are transmitted, prevented, and treated, with discussion of public health strategies, pandemics, and endemic diseases. In the final lecture, students will critically discuss and present ideas on which infectious diseases should be eliminated and why, based on historical and current challenges.
