英語で拓く工学世界への扉 / Let’s Open the Door to the World of Engineering in English
日本の成長を支えてきたのは科学技術の発達とその世界進出だと言っても過言ではない。本ゼミナールでは、日本の誇る科学技術を世界に発信するために戦ってきた先駆者を招き、苦労話や成功秘話を英語で聞くとともに、国際プロジェクトの進め方、技術交渉におけるサバイバル英語などを英語で学習する。また、履歴書やEメールの書き方、グループプレゼンの仕方などを授業で扱うことで、世界への扉を拓くのに不可欠な英語スキルを学ぶ予定である。本ゼミナールの受講生は、工学の世界展開について英語で学ぶことで、工学に関する国際理解を深めると共に、技術を世界発信するために必要な英語力を身に付けることが期待される。

At the foundation of Japan's economic growth lies the advancement of technology and its global expansion. In this seminar, we will invite world-famous engineers who have striven to disseminate their knowledge to the world. We will hear about their success stories as well as challenges in working with engineers from other parts of the world. Students will also learn how to manage international projects and learn a type of "survival English" that becomes essential when engaging in negotiations with engineers who do not share the same cultural and linguistic background. Students will also learn English skills that are essential for "opening the door to the world of engineering" such as CV writing, email writing, and group presentation. It is expected that students will develop global understanding of engineering and acquire the English skills that are crucial for disseminating their engineering expertise to the world.

＊講演者には、スタンフォード大学やスウェーデン王立大学で博士号を取得した研究者の方、工学分野で産業界を牽引する東大工学部卒の方、工学に関する国際交渉を担ってきたプロの通訳の方などをお招きする。
＊We will invite a professor who obtained their doctoral degree from KTH, a UTokyo graduate who obtained his doctoral degree from Stanford University and who currently works as an advisor for international organizations in Thailand, a professional interpreter who has dealt with international negotiations for engineers.
