Introduction to Cross-Cultural Psychology: Navigating a Diverse Global World
This introductory course on cross-cultural psychology aims to explore the role of culture in interactions with individuals who hold different cultural expectations. Culture exerts a powerful influence on human thoughts, psychological processes, and behaviors.

The course provides an overview of key theories and research methods in the field of cross-cultural psychology, followed by cross-cultural analyses of cognition, developmental processes, identity, emotion, gender, communication, personality, and the self. Students will critically reflect on their cultural assumptions and analyze their own recent intercultural experience to promote understanding of cross-cultural psychology and effective intercultural communication.

Additionally, this course explores how cross-cultural psychological processes shape key dimensions in international business settings, including communication, leadership, decision making, disagreeing, and time orientation. These topics prepare students to navigate culturally diverse business environments.

Further goals of the course include sharpening critical/creative thinking and enhancing research and presentation skills in English. Student contribution is a vitally important component of the course. Students are expected to actively participate in class discussions, present ideas, and exchange opinions throughout the semester. Each student is expected to complete the reading assignment and come prepared to contribute thoughts, questions, and relevant experiences.
