Environmental and Climate Justice
Environmental and Climate Justice
This course has two objectives: a) to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to environmental and climate justice, and b) to equip students with a well-rounded perspective on the critical and evolving field of the subject. It will be divided into three main parts:
1.Empirical Part: In this section, we will delve into real-world cases that are pertinent to environmental justice, climate justice, and climate change litigation. Through these case studies, students will gain empirical insights into the issues and challenges faced by communities, governments, and organizations in the pursuit of justice in environmental and climate matters.
2.Theoretical Part: This segment will explore the fundamental philosophical concepts underpinning environmental and climate justice. Students will engage in discussions and examinations of these theoretical themes, and will attempt to build a deeper understanding of the moral and ethical dimensions of environmental and climate issues.
3.Research Part: Each participant will be required to conduct independent research on a certain topic related to environmental and climate justice. This research project will allow students to explore specific issues, cases, or aspects of environmental and climate justice that interest them the most. The outcomes of their research will be presented at the final workshop of the course.
