Introduction to International and Cross-Cultural Education

Instructors: Hideto Fukudome, PhD (Professor, Dept. of University Management and Policy Studies/ CASEER, Graduate School of Education) Kazuaki Iwabuchi, PhD (Assistant Professor, CASEER, Graduate School of Education) This course is a school-wide course offered as part of the teaching by the Center for Advanced School Education and Evidence-based Research (CASEER), a research center affiliated with the Graduate School of Education. SPICE (The Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education) at Stanford University, which has exchanges with CASEER, will be the host institution. The course will be held in late January 2024. We will visit three universities in California Bay Area: Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Foothill College (a community college in the suburbs of Stanford). The students will attend lectures, seminars, and workshops. In addition, the participants will visit cultural institutions that contribute to the understanding of different cultures and diversity to promote multilateral understanding. *SPICE is a program of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. Since 1976, SPICE has supported efforts to internationalize K–12 and community college curricula. SPICE runs many online educational programs for American, Japanese, and Asian students. https://spice.fsi.stanford.edu/***** 教育学研究科の附属研究センターである学校教育高度化・効果検証センター（CASEER）の教育活動の一環として開設される研究科全体の共通科目である。2024年1月下旬にアメリカ合衆国のスタンフォード大学など、いくつかの大学を訪問する集中講義として開設する。CASEERと交流しているスタンフォードのSPICE（Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education）が受入先となり、スタンフォード大学、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校、スタンフォード近郊のコミュニティカレッジのひとつであるフットヒルカレッジ（Foothill College）の3つの大学を訪問し、大学関係者にゲスト講義を依頼し、講義とワークショップを受講する。また、異文化や多様性理解に資する文化施設を訪問し、多角的な理解を促進する。
